The Redspa team were very lucky to have visited amazing Amsterdam for our Christmas Party this year. We gathered at Gatwick aiport on Saturday 19 November to catch our early morning flight, and by midday we had arrived at our hotel, the Lloyd Amsterdam, an iconic old building right on the canal. We walked into the centre of Amsterdam and found a lovely little restaurant for lunch called Moes for some burgers and beers, to prepare us for what was to come...our Amsterdam bike tour!
Our tour took in all of the city's amazing sites, including the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, Vondelpark, Red Light District, Canal Belt and the Old Harbour area, to name just a few. Our tour guide Pieter talked us through Amsterdam's rich history and gave us an insight into it's quirky and cool culture. We ended our tour at a lovely little bar on the canal with fantastic views of the city, with a cup of hot chocolate and some traditional Dutch bar snacks called Bitterballen, little croquettes of slow cooked beef - delicious.
After a quick pit-stop at our hotel we made our way into Amsterdam city centre to find some of the cities famous bars, sampling some excellent local beers before heading to a lovely restaurant called Van Speyk for a delicious three course meal.
Sunday morning we all met up in the hotel cafe and after enjoying a hearty breakfast made our way back into Amsterdam city centre to wander around the many canals, markets, museums and shops. Lunch of Chicken Satay (a local favourite) at a traditional Dutch cafe concluded our trip. Amsterdam is a fantastic city, we highly recommend a visit.
